Once, there was a young man named Arjun who was known for his quick temper and impatience. He wanted everything to happen instantly — whether it was finishing his work, reaching his goals, or even enjoying life. He couldn’t stand waiting and always rushed through life.
One day, Arjun visited a wise old sage, seeking advice on how to achieve success. The sage listened patiently to his complaints, then handed him a seed and said, “Plant this in the ground and come back in a week.” Arjun did as he was told, planting the seed in a small pot. But after a week, when he returned, he was disheartened to find no sign of growth. The sage smiled gently and told him to wait another week.
Reluctantly, Arjun agreed. The weeks passed, but still no sign of life. After several months, Arjun returned, this time feeling defeated. “Why is it taking so long?” he asked.
The sage replied, “Patience, my young friend. It may seem like nothing is happening on the surface, but deep below, the roots are growing strong. When the time is right, the plant will bloom.”
Finally, one day, after nearly a year, Arjun noticed a small sprout emerging from the soil. He smiled in realization. All the months of waiting, when it seemed like nothing was changing, had been the most important time for the seed to grow its roots. Without patience, it never would have reached this moment.
From that day on, Arjun learned that true success takes time and effort, and that patience is an essential part of every worthwhile endeavour. No growth, whether in plants, work, or relationships, happens overnight. The deeper the roots, the stronger the tree.
