On 10th September 2025, a one-day workshop on Robotics and Science was organized at SRM University, Potheri for school students above the age of ten. 59 students and 11 teachers from the Samskar Kendra run by Vivekananda Educational Trust (VET) at Jameen Endathur, were enthusiastically participated. The students attending the Kendra are mostly from nearby government schools, and this exposure proved to be a remarkable learning opportunity for them.
The event commenced at 09.30 a.m. with the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu rendered by our students, followed by the welcome address and guest lectures. Students were divided into small groups and introduced to hands-on activities, including:
Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Sivathanu Pillai interacted with the children, heard their experiences, and encouraged them to aspire to become great scientists like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He also instructed SRM authorities to arrange a visit for our Samskar Kendra children to IIT Madras campus.
SRM University further motivated the participants by distributing stationery kits (notebook, pen, pencil, and folder) to all students and providing two science kits to each teacher, enabling them to demonstrate experiments back at the Kendra. e-certificates were issued to all students.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Smt. Vidhya Lakshmi of SRM University for waiving the registration fees of Rs. 400, thereby enabling our children to participate free of cost.
This workshop has sparked curiosity and inspired our Samskar Kendra students to nurture a strong interest in science and innovation.
